Playing on bank holiday Sunday, Barnard Castle went to Stokesley looking to keep up the winning run.
Scott Patrick came back into the team and Ben Wicling replacing Adam Thompson who was absent.
In the first round of fixtures Judy Freeman and Ben Wicling beat the third pair of Stokesley, before Barbara and Scott narrowly lost to the second pair. In what looked to be the pivotal game Sue and Jonathan twice came back from 3 games to get to 7-7 before dropping the next two to leave the game on the brink at 9-7 to Stokesley. A period of controlled tennis by the Barnard Castle pair turned the game game and gave us a 10-9 lead before Sue held her serve to win the match 11-9.
Carrying on the momentum Sue and Jonathan beat the second pair and Barbara and Scott beat the third pair, with Judy and Ben just being edged out 10-7 against the third pair.
In the final round of matches Judy and Ben beat the second pair 10-0 to guarantee Barnard Castle the win, quickly followed by Sue and Jonathan who won their final game 10-1. Barbara and Scott battled hard against a very solid first pair, but fell just short.
Another positive result for Barnard Castle, winning 6-3. The mid-point of the Cleveland League season is next Saturday with a home match against Great Broughton.
