April 9th, 2021 – The LTA is introducing a new rating system in conjunction with the ITF and many leading tennis nations. The new rating system is called World Tennis Number (WTN). This is a global rating system that has a sliding scale of 1 to 40. Each player registered on the LTA Advantage scheme (it’s FREE) will be assigned a rating. One aim is to make it easier for players to find competitive matches against players of similar ability. The rating system will be updated on a weekly basis. As well as tournament matches, club competitions and even matches on club nights can be entered on to the LTA system for inclusion in the weekly updates. There will be a separate WTN for doubles players (one player can have a singles WTN and a doubles WTN) meaning many league competition matches can also be included in the system.
