Barnard Castle Tennis Club is a very friendly and informal club that caters for all ages and standards of player from beginners to performance. We have three outdoor courts in the beautiful grounds of the Bowes Museum that provide a wonderful setting for playing tennis. We welcome new members and invite you to join – a membership form can be downloaded from the Membership Page. We hope that you enjoy your membership and play lots of tennis!
To help you get the most out of the club we encourage you to come to club nights and meet your fellow players but there are a number of other planned sessions that you might like to join – see timetable
Where possible we actively encourage junior members to play with the seniors. If you are in doubt about the ability of juniors then our coach Geoff Thomas would be happy to advise. We are very fortunate in having the services of Geoff Thomas as our head coach. Geoff is an experienced LTA accredited coach with an excellent reputation. As well as leading the various formal sessions outlined above he is also available to give individual or small group tuition. Please don’t be put off formal coaching as it is directed at a wide range of abilities in each session and is very helpful in getting the most out of your time on court. Geoff also offers younger players training in mini-tennis and junior tennis. Geoff can be contacted on 07814 368898 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
We would like to Welcome Sam Stokoe from the Durham Community Tennis Partnership who will be taking over the junior coaching at the club. We are currently offering 3 free taster days (20th, 27th June & 4th July) for coaching of all ages before our full programme is released. We invite you to register your interest for these sessions HERE
The club holds a variety of competitions each year across different age groups as well as open competitions. Formats for these vary and will be published separately.
We are not strict about dress code but we do insist that you have appropriate footwear for the courts. This enables you to play safely and protects the court surface.
We encourage you to let us (email@example.com) have your e-mail address to alert you to meetings, special events, etc.
